When Greg and I were in high school he would claim that he was a descendant of infamous viking Eric the Red. A quick history lesson would remind you that Eric's son Leif (Erikson) would go on to become one of the first (if not the first) European explorer to reach North America and settle in Newfoundland at L'Anse aux Meadows. Of course you know this because you paid attention in history class, right?*
It's still unclear whether Greg was actually a descendant of viking explorers, or whether he was just trying to use his hair colour as a conversation piece. Regardless, I was happy to head down to Toronto, share a few laughs over a scotch and document the everyday moments of, what might possibly be, the progeny of viking lore.
